Over the summer, I caught a few episodes of HGTV's "Tiny House Hunters," which, as the title implies, is about home buyers seeking a square foot-challenged living space as a way to downsize their lives.
Now the tiny office could be on the verge of becoming a thing, too.
Manufacturers are designing and building tiny offices on wheels that could, quite literally, put the "mobile" in mobile workforce. Here's a tiny, 6' x 10' office from Arkansas tiny house builder Slabtown. All this could be yours for around $2,400.
These tiny offices are sleek, modern and may provide a surprising amount of work space, thanks to the creative use of storage. Tiny office builders are also incorporating reusable materials into the build, which could result in a very inviting work space.
A few states, such as Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, Colorado and California, are carving out entire "tiny house" communities, which may make these states a natural for expanding the trend to employers.

Hmm. I know what you're thinking: Stop trying to make tiny offices happen, Chris. I'm an accountant, and you watch too much television. Well, the "tiny trend" might not take off in your particular line of work, but it could work in some highly-creative job fields. Or for the self-employed. They're just weird, anyway.
I think we can all agree that the tiny office is way better than either hoteling or feeling constantly distracted in an open office environment. Walls are good, let's build some again. In the meantime, I'll let you get back to watching your desk-dwelling teammate slurp his lunch.
